Annual General Meeting of NSCMID, Saturday Sept 23, 2023, at Conventum, Orebro, Sweden. 08.00-08.30

 

Chairman's welcome

The chairman of the NSCMID board Asko Järvinen welcomed 19 members that were present for the meeting. The NSCMID Annual General Meeting (AGM) and the meeting agenda had been announced at the nscmid.org website since 26 June 2023. Appointment of meetings chairman and secretary. Terho Heikkinen was elected as the chairman and Anders Johansson as the secretary of the AGM.

Chairman´s report

The Chairman's report was given orally by Asko Järvinen. The report was also present on screen and in printed paper copies at the meeting for the attendees of the AGM to read (appended in this PDF). The members accepted the report.

Honorary treasurer's report

The Treasurer's report was presented by Björn Blomberg. There were paper copies available for members to read of the full report at the AGM. The net result for the financial year 2022-2023 was DKK 808.612. The equity (assets minus debt and liability) was DKK 3.423.026 which was a significant increase from the previous year mainly driven by a surplus at the Aalborg 2022 meeting. It should be noted that the financial balance of the working group NordicAST is included within the balance of NSCMID although NordicAST has a separate financial year. The minus of DKK 134.466 for NordicAST in the NSCMID report this year is likely to be a plus next year given the budget prognosis of NordicAST. The treasurer also explained the policy devised by the board to make sure that money should be always available guaranteeing that the society can support an NSCMID annual meeting without any income to that meeting. The assembly accepted the report.
Release of responsibility of the board

The members released the board from responsibility.

Membership dues (annual fee)

The treasurer and the board proposed there should be no change of the yearly member fee (100 DKK, approximately 13 Euro) or the lifetime member fee (1000 DKK, approximately 130 Euro). The proposal was endorsed by the assembly.

One position was open this AGM for election to replace Björn Blomberg from Norway that has announced he will resign at this AGM. One candidate was presented: Ingrid Hoff, working at Haukeland in Bergen Norway as ID physician. No other candidates were proposed by the members at the AGM. The assembly elected Ingrid Hoff as NSCMID Board member for the period 2023-2026.

New NSCMID members

Anders Johansson reported that there at the day of the AGM were 320 active NSCMID members (44 yearly memberships, 39 10-year memberships, 237 lifetime memberships of the older type of memberships that are not available anymore). 24 members are new since the last AGM (1/9-22). For comparison, the total active member count at the day of the AGM 2022 was 308.

Report from the webmaster

Nina Breinholt-Staerke gave the report and showed a brief overview of the activities of the year. She also announced to the members that she will resign from the position during the coming year. She was thanked by the Board Chairman Asko Järvinen for her work as webmaster for 8 years. Nina received an applaud from the member assembly for her past work for the Society. The webmaster a position that is formally outside the board assigned by the NSCMID Board. A new webmaster will be assigned by the NSCMID board which like Nina will be invited to all board meetings.

Report from the SSAC Foundation

Magnus Gottfredsson is the Chairman of the SSAC Foundation and gave the report. There was a Foundation meeting held 13 March 2023 at Svenska Läkaresällskapet, Stockholm, Sweden. The Board of the SSAC Foundation decided that 7/13 eligible grant applications were funded with approximately 950 000 SEK. 100 000 SEK were granted to travel grants for young scientists to the upcoming NSCMID meeting in Örebro, Sweden. Magnus reported that the SSAC Foundation have decided that the advertisement of the SSAC Foundation grants on Svenska Läkaresällskapets website will be rephrased, a new phrasing will cite the statutes of the SSAC Foundation in that it will "support medical research in the field of infectious diseases therapy". The projects funded, names of applicants and the sum granted will be posted at www.nscmid.org.

The upcoming NSCMID scientific meetings

Truls Leegaard invited all NSCMID members to the upcoming NSCMID 2024 that will be held in Oslo. The venue will be Clarion Hotel the Hub in central Oslo and the meeting dates 29 August to 1 Sept 2024. Asko Järvinen explained that the NSCMID 2025 is planned to be held in Finland.

There was no other business.

The meetings Chairman Terho Heikkinen closed the meeting and the NSCMID board Chairman thanked him for having chaired the NSCMID AGM.
